Tiptoeing Through the Fountain of Youth

Or shuffling or padding or clicking. What do you hear when you read this week’s prompts?

To be young

The sound of Marcie’s feet

Write down your youthful story based upon this auditory suggestion so everyone can enjoy your melodic creation – of 500 words or fewer – at the next WordWrites Guild meeting on Thursday, July 13th at 6:00pm in the Dunevant Room of the North Dearborn Public Library.

You are more than welcome to share your talents, questions, works-in-progress, or simply a love of words with fellow wordsmiths at this week’s WordWrites Guild meeting at 6:00pm at the Lawrenceburg Public Library. We will be reading our literary homework based upon the following assignment:

  • a former child star
  • the last day of school

You might be surprised, entertained; even moved, by the varied and personal writing that has been inspired by one set of prompts. It’s like recess for words!

… Well Tended, Usually

One of the best ways to nurture your craft, quench your creative thirst, and reach toward the sky is within a growing community of caring, respectful, encouraging, and cheerful wordies! Join in the conversation, laughter and planting of ideas at this week’s WordWrites Guild meeting at 6:00pm in the Ewbank Room of the Lawrenceburg Public Library.

Consider sharing your current project, and/or your take on this week’s 500 word or less prompt:

a can of Easy Cheese
the way she made tea
to be the great seducer

We always look forward to seeing sunny faces; hearing fresh voices, so please stop by or contact us via social media, email, text or voice message – or by leaving a comment below. In the meantime, we encourage you to carry a poem in your pocket to celebrate National Poetry Month – here’s a seasonal favorite you might enjoy:

The Peddler of Flowers
Amy Lowell, 1874 – 1925

I came from the country
With flowers,
Larkspur and roses,
Fretted lilies
In their leaves,
And long, cool lavender.

I carried them
From house to house,
And cried them
Down hot streets.
The sun fell
Upon my flowers,
And the dust of the streets
Blew over my basket.

That night
I slept upon the open seats
Of a circus,
Where all day long
People had watched
The antics
Of a painted clown.
