It’s almost here – the annual transformation of April showers into May flowers. On April 27th, you are invited to join WordWrites Guild for a stroll through the garden of language, into the arbor of prose, while listening to the fountain of dialogue – all at the Lawrenceburg Public Library.

This meeting’s prompt asks what can you come up with that includes all of the following – using no more than 500 words?

A can of Easy Cheese
The way she made tea
To be the great seducer

And there you have it – perhaps not the tranquil path, or the floral bouquet of words you might have anticipated, but an interesting prompt – and one that engourages the ideas in your head to grow like weeds!

Enjoy the view …

This latest writing prompt might be a tad more challenging than some of our previous posts have been, so get ready to crack open the books, warm up the search engine and put the library reference desk on speed-dial.

In 500 words or less, write a little something that includes the following:

WHO – A Master Builder

WHAT – Evaluate

WHEN – Tenth Century

WHERE – Tibet

The next meeting of the WordWrites Guild is scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd at the Lawrenceburg Public Library at 6:00PM. All writers are encouraged to take part in the discussions, critiques, and sharing of creative work that are integral to every meeting.

Please review our Submissions Guidelines, knowing that every writer will receive a respectful, supportive, honest, and enthusiastic review of his or her work.

As always, we look forward to welcoming current members and new writers to this and every meeting.

Beginning January 3, 2013, WordWrites Guild has a new home, two new homes actually.

On January 3rd, and subsequent 1st Thursdays, we will be meeting in Dunevant #1 at the North Dearborn Branch Library.

Beginning January 17, and subsequent 3rd Thursdays, we will be meeting in the Ewbank #2 at the main Lawrenceburg Public library.

At both locations, we will officially begin a 6:00 PM since the libraries close earlier (8:00) than Ivy Tech.  If 6:00 is too early for you, come when you can.  We’ll stay until we run out of things to do or talk about, or until they throw us out.

Autumn Schedule

We at the WordWrites Guild warmly thank Northern Kentucky novelist Rick Robinson for presenting a thoroughly enjoyable program on August 15. Everyone in attendance learned about pacing one’s story, the many publishing options available today, the importance of building plot in such a way as to challenge fictional characters while staying true to their own morals and personalities, and so much more.

The WordWrites Guild is indebted to the Lawrenceburg Public Library for working with us in hosting this award-winning author. We look forward to future collaborations with this professional and enthusiastic organization.

As always, we welcome all writers to join us as we resume our normal meeting schedule on September 6th. We will meet at 6:30pm in room 238 at Ivy Tech, Lakefront Campus, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. There are no fees and we invite fellow word-geeks to attend meetings as their schedules allow.

If you have a work that you would like critiqued at the September 6 meeting, attach it (RTF prefered) to an email to WordWritesGuild@gmail.com by midnight August 30.  See the Guidelines tab for more information.
