Looking for a Prompt?

We at WordWrites Guild are an eclectic mix of folks – teachers, painters, drivers, students, grandparents, musicians, engineers – all Jacks and Jills of many trades! In an effort to bring fresh creativity into our writing, from time to time we will be using photographs, music, and more for our twice-monthly writing prompts.

We are excited about the following image and can’t wait to hear what everyone comes up with for the August 24th at the Lawrenceburg Public Library at 6:00pm when they share their writing inspired by:

Have fun – with 500 words, or fewer!

IMPORTANT NOTE — Although the next WWG meeting will be held at the normal 6:00pm time, at the normal North Dearborn Public Library location, on the normal second Thursday of the month, due to members’ availability, this prompt will be shared at the later August meeting, as stated correctly above.

Best of Intentions

We’ve all experienced it – done a favor or received a favor, but something didn’t go quite right or turn out as expected. And there are always the other kinds of favors – party favor, approval favor, preference favor, etc. that come to mind, as well.

This week’s prompt might open the door to a comedic adventure or a tragic end. It’s up to you as you craft a 500 word or less version of …

A favor goes wrong

Join your fellow wordsmiths and favor-doers at the next WordWrites Guild meeting at the Lawrenceburg Public Library on Thursday, July 27th at 6:00pm.

… and tripping the light fantastique!

Be sure to clear your calendar for Thursday, July 13th at the North Dearborn Public Library for the next 6:00pm gathering of writers at the WordWrites Guild.

Bring your creativity, your curiosity, and your creation inspired by the latest prompts:

To be young

The sound of Marcie’s feet

We’ll be glad to see you there!startup-593341_1920

Or shuffling or padding or clicking. What do you hear when you read this week’s prompts?

To be young

The sound of Marcie’s feet

Write down your youthful story based upon this auditory suggestion so everyone can enjoy your melodic creation – of 500 words or fewer – at the next WordWrites Guild meeting on Thursday, July 13th at 6:00pm in the Dunevant Room of the North Dearborn Public Library.

The Carter Family Knew …

… to always stay on the sunny side of life. Well, that has been easy for most of us as any lingering rchild-830988_1920ain and gloom have given way to sunshine at long last!

This is a perfect time of the year to sit on the beach, find a quiet spot under the night sky, or simply open the window near your desk and have fun with your imagination.

The following writing prompts might be good starting points, and 500 or 200 or less than 100 words might be just enough to tell your own story about:

  • a former child star
  • the last day of school

Bring your lyrics, poem, essay – anything you might like – to the next WordWrites Guild meeting on May 25th, at the Lawrenceburg Public Library at 6:00pm.  It’s a great place to share your creativity!

Fun With Words!

We welcome May with quite an interesting assortment of words with which to create, compose, and craft. These disparate choices were made by blindly reagirls-1149935_1920ching into that shimmering universe of language – a vintage box of vocabulary cards! Oh, the joy of discovering an antediluvian word – just waiting to be released from the dust and silence of disuse.

Circumlocution

Lavish

Placid

Euphony

Baffled

Protuberance

As always, the word limit is 500 – and you can use your imagination as far as content, genre, etc. Of course you are welcome to play along at home, although you might have a better time joining your fellow word-geeks at the next WordWrites Guild meeting on Thursday, May 11 at the North Dearborn Library from 6:00-8:00. We are always happy to see new faces, to hear new voices – and to learn new things!
